Team-Up Thursday: The Day-to-Day
Tina and I are both documenting a Week In the Life this week so we agreed the day-to-day so was the perfect theme. Ironically, we didn't decide on anything beyond the basic theme and ended up with the same idea. We share a love (and the routine) of coffee. It looks like Tina has a fondness for Half and Half. Me? I prefer black, half caffeine and the stronger the better.
Thursday 13: In Honor Of Earth Day, 13 Ways to Encourage Kids to Go Green
- Reduce electricity. If it's not being used turn it off.
- Turn off the water when they brush their teeth.
- Encourage recycling of metals, plastic and paper.
- A donation tour to "reuse" and "recycle". Donate toys, clothes, books, etc. to a thrift store, church or recycling center.
- Write letters. Encourage kids to write letters to the government about environmental issues.
- Shop with reusable bags.
- Talk about it. Focus on awareness.
- Start a garden.
- Don't litter. Properly dispose of trash.
- Don't use disposable utensils, cups and plates.
- Use rechargeable batteries.
- Carpool with friends to activities.
- Participate in a clean up day at a park.
Lots of good suggestions. I'm working on my garden. :)

Everyone should have a garden.

I'm really trying with turning off the water when brushing teeth. It's a hard habit to break and sometimes I forget, but I'm doing better than I used to! =)

I saw this PBS special last night on food and how Monsanto prosecutes farmers who save seed. They are trying to control our ability grow our own food. Very evil and like science fiction. We vote everyday with our purchases. Buy local and organic and yes, grow your own.

Those are all great ways to teach kids to conserve. I'm seeing pay-off now with my young adult children, ever so conscious of recycling (bringing plastics back to the stores if we forget the bags) and energy saving. It really does pay-off to start young!

Great list. I'm trying to get my kids to turn off lights as they exit a room. So far so good - we're getting there. :) Happy TT!

Coffee - yum.
Great Earth Day list. We do a garden & my daughter helped clean up her school grounds of litter & planted some flowers. Today her class is reading a poem about Earth Day in front of the whole school.
Thanks for sharing :)

Love your photo dip! My Team-Up Thursday partner and I both love coffee as well, but also are known to like tea as well.
You have a fabulous list for Earth Day. I am going to share it with my children, maybe something on the list will stick with them.

My 5 yo and I were talking about Earth day before school today and what we should do to protect the earth. Among her list was "be kind to bugs".
Great dip, I could so use some of that right now. It's as if you are promoting our coffee habit with just that dip.

Excellent! I'm always talking to my husband about #2.
My sister (and her husband), the environmental scientists, would totally approve of this post.
