Part 2: Edit
Love/Romance
SOOC
Final Edit
Loved learning a new approach to cropping! Thanks Ashley.
With an arms-length self photo it was impossible to compose the photo SOOC. I think the crop narrowed the focus nicely. I mostly played with trying to correct the lighting created by having to use the flash. It's still not perfect but the more I edited I lost too much detail and it was just over done. So I deleted layers and this is the final edit.
I'm curious. What would you have done differently with the lighting?
I love the new crop and I'm not sure if I would have done anything different with the light. Arms length shots are just difficult - I'm hoping to learn a few lessons in the next couple of weeks.

I like what you did. Really cleared up the focus and brings you right in. :D

I think the crop definitely makes it. Not sure what I'd have done different... black & white maybe? Great job!

I love the clarity and the crop in your edit. Not sure about the lighting - still working my way through that as well.

I love the crop! I don't know what equipment you have, but if you have a tripod, you could slow the shutter speed way down, thus eliminating the need for a flash. If you have an external flash, you could point it away from the glasses. If not, then perhaps you could throw on a texture to warm up the flash reflection??
I really like it though - the close-up and the feeling the photo conveys!

Wow! The original was good, however the crop is excellent! Great work!

Great crop! I just got a puffer flash diffuser, haven't used it yet [just came in the snail mail] but I'm wondering if it would help with the close up requirement for flash? I'll have to give it a try. Otherwise I have to go with Tripod - it is hard to do those arm reaches with a larger camera.
I do love the edits :)

I've been shopping around for a diffuser. I'd love to know how you like it.
