- Despite having the most supportive family ever, I'm currently suffering from runner's guilt. A condition commonly associated with marathon training.
- I need to incorporate speed workouts into my existing training plan. [KEY: Without adding an additional running day!]
- I want to start a local group for Moms Run This Town. I'm running anyway and it will be a fun way to meet new people. Still waiting to find out the details of starting a group.
- I own about 2 dozen Nike running shorts and, except for the Nike running skirt and a recently purchased Asics running short, that is all I've ever run in. I'm ready for a change.
- My next virtual race is Hotter Than Hades Virtual Half Marathon. Cool!
- Lately, when I run I crave cold watermelon and/or grapes.
- I've run more trail races this year than ever before.
- I love the concept, "strong is the new skinny". I wish I could find a t-shirt.
- My next real-life race is Bob Ronker's 2011 Dirt Days Series, East Fork Lake Backpack Trail Race.
Runner or not what's on your mind this morning/today?

I'm wondering if I'm a real runner since all I do lately is run on the track. I'm considering adding the treadmill for some hills because I have a very hilly half coming up in September. I just can't run outside in this heat.
Also, and this will probably sound weird, but I'm jealous of your quads. That's what runner quads are supposed to look like, and mine don't :-)

my running journey is really on restart...
this past year to get my fitness to par, i ran mostly on the treadmill
b/c it fit into my lifestyle the best (and my ego)
now that i have committed to running outside, it feels like i am starting
from square one again.
let's just say i am not one of those runners who says,"i've been running for 6 months
and i am running my first half marathon this fall!"
i recognize it's been a journey...i am healthier, i am eating better/cleaner and i am fitter!
i have built a solid base and i am ready to go forward!
staying committed is on my mind...

Hi Sarah. Thank you for the compliment :) Ironically, my image of a runners legs are not mine LOL
And of course you're a runner. I read a book by John Bingham and now I keep this quote on my computer,
"If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run."
I know running in the heat is difficult. I've started meeting a friend at 6:30 AM or 8:00 PM to avoid the heat.
Don't give up!

Jen I loved reading this. And this is my favorite part " recognize it's been a journey...i am healthier, i am eating better/cleaner and i am fitter!" Me too!! Healthier and more fit than I have ever been.
Thanks for visiting :)

Hey Jill,
I have a couple of 'Strong is the New Skinny' t-shirts. I found them via the Facebook group 'Strong is the New Skinny'. If you follow Marsha, she posts when there are new shirts (and slogans!) in her shop.
I get lots of great comments when I wear my SINS clothes!
Looking forward to tomorrow's Blog Hop,
Tamara (fitknitchick)

Jill - If you want the t-shirt, make one at cafepress.com. It's what I do. It's a little pricier than some places, but you can design your own stuff. I think I've actually seen that t-shirt, but I can't for the life of me remember where. If I think of it, I'll let you know!

Have you tried doing interval training? I've heard that is the best way to improve your speed, and it shouldn't take much extra time, either. (I'm a newbie runner myself, so I'm not an expert!)

PS. I, too, LOVE the slogan "strong is the new skinny"! :)
