I'm often asked what keeps me motivated and doing what I do everyday. One answer is a challenge. I can't seem to resist! I recently joined 2 virtual races and 1 abs challenge, as part of my training plan for the Chicago Marathon in October. A virtual race. I just love the sound of that!
A 5-week ab challenge. From July 1 - August 5, 2011 try to complete 3000 abdominal exercises without a single crunch. Participants will average 100 ab exercises a day!
Ab Challenge Week One: Total Abdominal Exercises - 1475 (P90X Ab Ripper X)
Run a 5k between August 7 and August 13 and you must include at least one hill. I've already chosen a -never-run-before hill!
Run a half marathon (13.1 miles) from July 15th thru August 15th. You don't have to complete the 13.1 miles in one run. You have the whole month!
I'm not affiliated with any of the challenges. Just a little fun and a great way to connect to other runners. I'm running and doing the abdominal exercises anyway so adding the challenge is all the better. Anyone want to join me? Click on the button or the link for more information.

Now the link-up - Fitness Friday Blog Hop
A weekly blog hop for blogs that focus on overall fitness and health. A great way to share information and stories, meet new friends, find new blogs and get new followers, subscribers and readers.
I have never seen these virtual races before - what a great idea! I live in Norway and there aren't nearly as many runs to take part in - and those that do exist are pretty hard core and not much "fun". I may need to buy myself a Garmin after all :)

Hi Nikki. The virtual race is just joining a group of runners virtually. Although you're not physically together you're running the same race and sharing on the host's blog. Does that make sense? Let me know if you decide to sign up :)
