Lets talk music.
I don't always run with music, but when I do it's a great pick me up. With some songs I get into a comfortable rhythm that feels like I could run forever. With other songs, I can't help but push myself a little bit harder and a little bit faster for the length of the song.
That brings me to this song, Motley Crue's Kickstart My Heart. Why this song in particular?
- I'm still surprised a Motely Crue song is on my iPod,
- It never fails to motivate me to push harder or run faster and
- It is a running song only. I never listen to it otherwise. If it comes on the radio I change the station. Typically, it's way out of my music comfort zone.
Do you have a running-only song? A song that would typically be considered out of your comfort zone. What is your favorite go to song that motivates you to run just a little bit harder? If you don't run with music what motivates you to push harder just for a few mintues?

Jill, I love that you have Motley Crue on your iPod. I have it on mine too, but like you, I mostly skip it. I find myself running to Rap music, which is probably not what I would put on if I was just hanging around the house. It is peppy and for some reason the beat just matches my stride perfectly.

I have put songs on my iPod because I wanted them for when I run, thinking they will help me, but I also listen to them if I'm not running and just listening to my iPod. I love Fitness Friday and I'm so glad you host it! Thanks.

Right now my song of the week is Friday Night by Katy Perry... Such a fun beat! I have to have music, or it's not as fun.

True confession time. My Pandora radio has a Lady Gaga station. I would never buy her songs or listen to them at any other time - they just aren't me. But for running they seem just right, Go figure.

I don't listen to music while I run - but I do sing sometimes!
I like to be fully aware of what is going on around me as I mostly run in urban areas and on trails - a girl has to be safe.

I have a really wide array of songs on my ipod for running - with lots that I usually don't listen to unless I am running! I am not usually into pop music but I have a lot of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Kesha. Ack!
I am a new follower and a new fitness friday user. What a great idea!

I 100% understand about a running only song. I call mine my "power up" song. Like you, its not something I would normally listen to, but man is it awesome for running.

I'm a new follower and 1st time to the blog hop. Sounds weird but my 3 songs that get me fired up: 1. Blame It (on the Alcohol)-Jamie Foxx, Simply the Best-Tina Turner, Apple Bottom Jeans song-Flo Rida.
Songs that I just love running to: Raise your Glass-Pink, Party in the USA-Miley Cyrus,
All of them are now considered "old" but I can let my mind go and just sing along with all of these songs.

I have a totally array of songs but really Kayne Wests song, All of the Lights really gets me going and Regina Specktor/Ben Folds You Dont Know Me At, totally different but totally work for me!

Well, Jill, I don't run (yet...), but when I'm on the ARC trainer or in the spinning studio anything Gaga gets me going these days! I'm also partial to Pink while lifting weights; something about her bad-girlness that makes me want to lift heavier and heavier!

Hi Tamara. Yet is the key word :)
Love Gaga and Pink but unlike Motley Crue I listen to both of them all the time.

Hi and welcome Rachel! I'm fans of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Kesha. Mostly for running or when I'm driving to a race or run I play it really loud and sing. Music just works with running :)
I hope you'll link up with us again!

When I need a little extra kick I like the song Uprising by Muse. The rest of the time I just listen to anything that I downloaded recently. I don't get to listen to my music much, I'm usually listen to Kids Place Live in the car. ;)

Uprising is a good running song MonicaB. I haven't listened to it in a while. Maybe it's time to put it back on the running playlist.
