1. I'm getting excited about my 12 in 2012 goal! It finally feels like it's coming together and doable. I even have friends that may join me and I'm working on the details with a sponsor!! Are you interested in challenging yourself to run 12 half marathons next year? Contact me!
2. After Chicago I've been thinking about a few changes I want to make to my marathon training. I'm seriously considering this training program.
With claims like this it's worth considering right?
Get ready for your best race times ever.
You can get faster without - overtraining, burnout or injury!
No matter what your age, fitness level, or ability, you can run faster than you ever thought possible – with RUN LESS RUN FASTER and the amazingFIRST program. Developed by exercise scientists and tested with real runners, the FIRST program has changed the way runners think and train for competitive races – while improving race times virtually every time.
Feed your need for speed – with less work, less stress, less time!
You can read more at Runners World, The Less Is More Marathon Plan.
Has anyone tried this program or something similar? Would you recommend it? Would you consider changing to 3 days of running for marathon or half marathon training?
3. One year ago this month I started my first round of the P90X 90-Day Challenge. I wouldn't be exaggerating if I said it changed the way I think about fitness and crosstraining. I started another round of the 90-day challenge this week in anticipation of this! Preordered and delivered before Christmas!

What's on your mind for this Thursday?
I used RLRF for 5 of my 6 marathons and most of my halfs as well. On just 30 miles a week I got considerably faster and have 2 BQs to show for it. It's not for everyone but give it a try. I love it!
May be able to join you on the 12 in 12 project. Depends how my hip behaves...

Thanks Marcia. I can read everything available on RLRF but it helps to hear from people that have used it. I would love to have you join me for 12 in 2012. I'm excited about the possibilities of sponsors!

Ive used RLRF for 2 half marathons and am using it right now for my first marathon. I like it because it gives me the freedom to do other sports I like, and doesn't wear me down. It made me a lot faster for my half marathons, it took 12 minutes off my best time!
Good luck!

I may try to do the 12 in 2012. It depends on where I am going to be. Let me ask you, does it have to be one a month? Or just 12 total?

I love the idea of RLRF and your 12 in 12 plan, what a great goal! Are you ready to share the schedule?

I've wanted to try the RLRF program for a while now! I don't think my knees were made to run too much more than that! Plus, it leaves more time to do other fitness activities too. Good luck on your P90X! I heard it's really intense!

I've heard a lot about the RLRF program too and I'll be curious to see what kind of success you have with it. I also read an article about Crossfit Endurance that basically combines crossfit with interval running and claims you can train for a marathon without ever doing a long run...not sure what I think about that since the long runs are such a mental boost as well but people seem to be having results with it!

Hi Kyria. I would love to have you join me. I'm still debating the 12 in 2012 or a half marathon a month. Leaning toward a total of 12 if that helps you decide :)

We should both try it Christina! P90X is intense but I love it. This will be round 3 for me.

Hi Lauren. Now you have me curious about Crossfit Endurance but I don't think I can (or want to) give up the long run. Off to Google it.

I have been eyeing this program for a few months now. I even have the book in my Amazon.com shopping cart. I only run every other day (the Jeff Gallowy way)... so that means 3-4 times a week. I added cross fit to my off days and I'm a much stronger runner! I am doing FIRST and didn't even know it! I'd love to get the book and see how I can get the most out of this training program! Let us know what you think about it!

Hi Joni. I just bought the book last night. I'll keep you updated. I've been interested in cross fit for quite some time. What is FIRST?

Hi Jill,
FIRST is the name of the training program taught in the Run Less, Run Faster book.

Thanks. I thought it was a different-similar-type program. Just bought the book last night!
