Before I get to week 1 of HBBC, I started a new running club yesterday and while in the store I saw this quote. I loved it and immediately thought of the joy of simply running because you can.
Week 1 was all about the points! Nothing like a little friendly competition to keep you motivated.
Review Week 1: Being off from work for the holiday and a little more flexibility with time made it relatively easy to accomplish my workout goals for the first week. Nutrition goals? Not perfect but not derailed by the holiday either. Other than a candy cane truffle from Godiva in the mall I wasn't really tempted by sweets/desserts. We'll see how long that lasts :) The best part...I ate what I wanted and didn't have even one moment of guilt!
One thing I noticed this week was how I felt after eating more carbs that I typically would. Kind of sluggish and not a lot of energy.
Week 2 Goals
Workouts
- strength training - 3 days
- running - 4 days
- kenpo - 2 days
- abs - 4 days
- stretch - 2 days
Nutrition
- Shakeology smoothie - 7 days
- vitamins - 7 days
- stick to the weekly plan everyday! (you can see an example of my weekly clean eating menu here Commitment to Health and Fitness)
- more water (I noticed a few times during the week that I didn't feel like I was drinking enough water)
How did week 1 go for you? Are sweets your biggest temptation during the holidays?

I just came across your blog from Amanda's Facebook page and I'm glad that I did!
While I admit that I really like pumpkin pie, I'm more of a savory person, so it's hard to not have second helpings of the mashed potatoes and the dressing.

love the quote...sweets are definitely my weakness at any time of year :(

I have to ask, where do you do Kenpo? DVD's or a gym? I've always wanted to try it. Jess

My week went well. Wish I had run one more time but I will get it back this week. I love sweets, but luckily I didn't like any of the desserts served on Thanksgiving day so I was safe!

Hi Jessica
I love Kenpo for cross training. You should try it! I use P90X home DVDs. P90X 2 is coming out next month. I can't wait to try the new kenpo.

Hi Jennifer. The sweets are a weakness for a lot of people. Have you tried peppermint bark? If I have a weakness for sweets it would be for peppermint bark :)

I like that quote! My week one went okay. I did run. I definitely ate way more than usual. And drank (oops), but I did still get in 7 servings of veggies. I am not really a sweet lover, but I do enjoy a glass of wine from time to time. That is probably my downfall.

Hi Amy. I'm most tempted by salty snacks. Especially chips and salsa!!

I'm guessing everyone ate more than usual. No guilt!!
Nothing wrong with a glass of wine from time to time :)
