Welcome to Fitness Friday blog hop! A weekly blog hop for blogs that focus on overall fitness and health.
A year ago I decided to give up my gym membership with a plan to start working out at home and running from home. After having a gym membership for more years of my adult life than not I wasn't sure if working out at home was going to work. One year later I'm still working out at home (and running from home). Something as little as not having the travel time has made all the difference in the world with consistent strength and cross training.
And after a year I was pretty sure I would stick with it so now I have this, my happy place (the photos were taken for my running scrapbook)...
Bibs and medals. Finally, out of the drawer and proudly displayed!
I need to hang my Chicago photo (right).
I need another frame for this photo (left) and one of Alec running his first Warrior Dash. I want to cover this entire wall (right) with "active" photos of the 4 of us.
I usually have my weekly workout schedule written here (left). This week started off kind of yuck so I needed this motivation.
The photo on the right is a challenge from Chad and Alec. A timed 300 Workout! I can do this. Bring it!
Do you workout at home or a gym?

Hi Carrie. When I first decided to start working out at home I was worried about the motivation part too. Once I realized the advantages that kept me motivated and still does.

The framed bibs are my favorite part of the whole room :)
I have a treadmill on my Christmas list. It will probably have to wait until we finish the basement. The room I use now is too small.

Hi Vicki. I was driving almost 1/2 hour each way to the gym. More if traffic was bad. No more and loving it!

Thanks Laurie. The bib collage is my favorite part of the room!

Hi Kyria! With the money I've saved with not paying a gym membership I've more than paid for the equipment and DVDs I bought to workout at home. Definitely worth it!
Have you found a half for Jan? I'm not having much luck.

Hi Aimee. I enjoyed the social aspect and the atmosphere of the gym but there are too many advantages to working out at home! My own shower is one of them :)

Thank you Kathy. I love the idea of filling the entire wall with photos of the 4 of us, if I do say so myself :) I was determined to come up with an idea to get the bibs out of the drawer!

Hi Elle. I'm intrigued by the idea of living on a boat.

Hi Emily. Yes, I'm very fortunate to have the space (and an agreeable husband)! Come over anytime!

Hi Jamie. I had to give up my scrapbook room! Man, that was hard. Now I'm in the process of coming up with an idea for a small space to scrapbook. That's proving to be difficult after having an entire room that was fabulous to create in :)

Hi Kenda! We're doing the 300 this weekend. My son and his friend tried it last night and I walked in to find them unable to get through the pushups. It was hilarious :)

Great discipline - working out at home. I used to go to the gym regularly when I was working with a personal trainer. Then I dropped the trainer and essentially dropped the gym. Now I only go to use the pool, and that is probably 4-5 months a year at most. boo for me!

Hello!! May I ask...do you have carpet on the floor and what is it that you put down? I see the yoga mat I think but what else did you do? I have a spare bedroom but it has carpet. I am kind of unsure what to do to make it more functional. I really love the room you have set up! thanks for the tips!!

Your home gym is very cool. I love the idea of using race bibs as decor. They are cute and motivational.
I work out at home because of the cost and that there really aren't any gyms that are close to my house. Plus I am lucky to live in Florida and can run outside year round.

Living in Ohio I envy your year around running weather. My water bottles should not freeze during a run!

Hi- I'm new to your blog, and enjoyed reading! Great photography skills! I workout at home and the gym... I used to run to the gym and back, but recently moved and that's no longer an option. I'm also really interested in the Fitness Friday idea--I'm a new blogger and would love to get more connected in this way. Are Fitness Friday posts written/ongoing every week? Or do you open this up each week to whoever wants to participate on a week-by-week basis?

Hi Laura. Nice to meet you. Fitness Friday is open to anyone to participate as often as you like. Just link up your health, fitness and nutrition related post on my blog every Friday and visit the other participants. It's a great way to meet new people, and a lot of great tips and motivation. Let me know if you have any questions.
