On November 11th, 11.11.11, across the planet, documentary filmmakers, students, and other inspired citizens will record the human experience over a 24-hour period and contribute their voice to the second annual global day of media creation called One Day on Earth. Together, we will create a shared archive and a film.

Workout Wednesday [mid-week review]

Goals for the week:

• reduce miles and days of running to be ready for the Air Force Half 
• crosstrain
• try 3 new things: compression shorts, Nuun, Honey Stinger Energy Chews

This week's workout schedule: 

Sunday - Stretch X, Abs/Core Plus
Monday - Upper Plus
Tuesday - Abs/Core Plus
Wednesday - Total Body Plus, Run 6
Thursday - Abs/Core Plus, Run 5
Friday - Upper Plus, Abs/Core Plus
Saturday - Air Force Half Marathon, Glenwood Garden 5K Trail Race 

Mid-Week Review:

• workouts are going great
• although I'm missing the runs, reducing the mileage for the week feels good
• crosstraining, 3 days done
• trying compression shorts and Nuun this evening
• Getting excited about the Air Force Half and running my first night trail race.
• Counting down the days til Chicago!

After Chicago I'm Runnin' the Hood! I signed up for a virtual 10K at The Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans!

August 4. Celebrating 44 years of me. In the past year or so I've often said, "I'm more fit, stronger, healthier and happier than ever before." What it is about being in my 40s that makes that statement so true? Mostly, I think it's an attitude and mindset along with:

1. Clean eating. Consuming food in its most natural state- or as close as possible to it—is the soul of clean eating. It’s not a diet; it’s a lifestyle approach to food and its preparation, leading to health, well-being and a lean look.” -Clean Eating Magazine 

 

2. Finding your passion and living it. Running (Why I Believe In the Run) and photography (Capture Your 365).

3. Love. Friendship. Security. 

4. Being a mom.

5. Accepting imperfection (and always striving to be better).

What is something in your life that is "better than ever before?" Somthing that makes you a better person?

Pacing a 50 Mile Trail Race

Meet Team Chad

Yesterday Chad ran a 50 mile trail race, Dawg Gone Long Run 50 Miler, at Caesar Creek. The other 3 in the photo? We were his pacers. I ran 18.25 miles of mud, hills, over and under fallen trees and more hills. I drank more water than ever. I enjoyed the scenery. It was beautiful and a nice break from our regular Saturday long runs. 

I still prefer road runs but the ideal is a combination of running both trail and road runs. The strange thing is, running trails is a totally different mind set. Next year, I'm doing the whole 50!

I never thought I would say I don't mind the mud and getting dirty. It's part of the fun!

Capture Your 365 Blog Hop | June

Another fun month of Capture Your 365, inspired by Katrina Kennedy. Using Katrina's June June Photo Idea List and daily emails, my 365 project took on a new perspective. Ultimately, my goal continues to be to look through the lens with a more creative eye, but this month my perspective seemed to focus on the role photography plays in my overall health and fitness. I realized photography is not only something I love to do. It's good for me.

A few things I noticed while capturing images for the month of June:

• Like running or working out, a camera in my hand relaxes me.
• Taking pictures is one of the few situations that I don't over think. 
• I am never too busy or in too much of a hurry to grab a camera.
• A less than perfect shot is truly better than missing the shot altogether.
• I used minimal editing and no actions :)
