Dreaming of spring. I love having fresh flowers in the house. They've been a cheerful touch of color during the past few days of gray, cloudy and rainy. Both of these shots caught my eye.

For the clean edit I used Deep Clean 1 & 2 at Everyday Elements. Adjusted layers to taste and deleted a few layers not needed. I'm learning a lot and happy to be able to do a more editing on my own but the actions are faster. 

Now to pick a favorite to print.

Theme: Couples

My original plan for a couples shot was somewhere outdoors. So for days I waited and waited for at least a little bit of sunshine and preferably below freezing temperatures. It never happened. So on to Plan B. Find the best lighting indoors on an a very overcast day. Sometimes plan B works out the best. Our impromptu photo shoot under less than optimal conditions turned out to be a a lot of fun. We laughed. Took silly photos and laughed some more. I'll have to share the outtakes with my edited shot :) 

This photo and all of it's technical imperfections just may be one of my favorites.

Started with ACR to adjust

• custom balance

• blacks
• brightness 
• contrast  
• saturation

Then I applied Sweet Bakery Glazes II (Coffee Shop) and Sugar Cookies (Paint the Moon) both with adjusted layers to taste.

Yes. I'm a big fan of actions. A few of my favorites are Rita's at the Coffee Shop, Amanda's at Everyday Elements (she's a great teacher too), My Four Hens (a sale with all actions and bundles 50% off), Paint the Moon and Pioneer Woman.

Loved learning a new approach to cropping! Thanks Ashley.

With an arms-length self photo it was impossible to compose the photo SOOC. I think the crop narrowed the focus nicely. I mostly played with trying to correct the lighting created by having to use the flash. It's still not perfect but the more I edited I lost too much detail and it was just over done. So I deleted layers and this is the final edit. 

I'm curious. What would you have done differently with the lighting?

I couldn't decide which edit I liked best. I love the basic edit that was primarily focused on the contrast of colors. And in the second edit I love effect of the desaturation and overlay. What is your favorite?

I enjoyed playing (and learning) with the color fill layer. Endless possibilities. Thank you Jill and Ashley!

I tried for a "red" shot that I liked. No luck. So, I'm editing a photo for another photography challenge, Project 64: Out of the Box, and the theme is GRAY.

I edited using a combination of steps from Ashley's previous edits. I need to find a convenient way to keep track of my editing so I can share my process. I played with the hue/saturation after watching the video and but I ended up deleting the layers. Definitely a technique I will try again. I'm looking forward to Shoot and Edit: HEARTS next week.
